Monday, 25th of April 2005Tell me after two years of no postings this is all I have to write about. I work on other aspects of the site but have let the front page lapse. I hope to change this as I do have more to talk about but just not now. - More has been added to the forums. I'm not the best at coding but came up with some different methods for mouseovers/ image creation using php currently being used on this site. - I've extended the games section to include more flash/ java applets versus what was before all MAME. I still need to find more for this, but it has been difficult as many sites are tying the games directly to their URL's making it difficult to open anywhere else. The picture representing GMail is here for a reason. Not the oft-touted search capabilities, nor the comments regarding an invasion of privacy in ad placement (a computer scanning our emails to place an ad is the least of our worries. Emails are stored on a server as a simple text file easily readable by anyone with access.) What I've loved is the fact I've had ZERO pieces of Spam in the over six months of usage. True, I don't use this to sign up for illicit sites (I have another address for that), but it does show that the standard username Dictionary Attacks doesn't work with them. Wednesday, 12th of March 2003 Unfortunately I have not made any updates to my Home Page in quite some time (three months for those of you who are counting). It has not been for lack of things to mention, but more because I have been having fun/been busy with other projects or other aspects of my site/life. On that note... on to the updates. - Games: I still live in the past. Probably due to some trauma I went through as a kid when my parents bought me a TI-99/4A instead of an Atari Game Counsel. In retrospect it was probably a good move in teaching me to program, but I still love the Classics. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders ... All there. The emulator (think "Game Counsel") was written in Java and found at CottAGE. The ROMS ("Cartridges") have to be found elsewhere and can be tough to track down, which is part of the reason I only have 21 out of the 125 supported by CottAGE available online. Finally the PHP/MySQL Code that scrolls through the different games was written by me with many reference checks to PHP.net. - Favorites: A slick little server side application using PHP and MySQL. Yet one more item in my quest to have information wherever I go. This was found at SourceForge. - ChatCam: On this I am going to hold off saying anything until next time. I am still looking through better Chat and WebCam control software. - Music and Pictures: Or Lack Of. Anyone know where I can host my 5+ GB of music for next to nothing? My current hosting company (which I have been happy with since starting there over three years ago, 5dollarhosting.com) gives me 25 MB of space, MySQL, SSH Access, a decent (though admittedly a little dated) Online Control Panel... This is plenty for everything but my music and pictures. The hosting company I worked for has since closed its doors. Too long a story for here. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
